Tornado Warning for Hempstead County

…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM CDT FOR NORTHEASTERN HEMPSTEAD AND NORTHWESTERN NEVADA COUNTIES…

At 617 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Emmet, or 8 miles south of Prescott, moving north at 30 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation. At 556 PM, numerous trees were downed in the Bodcaw community in Southwest Nevada County.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near… Perrytown around 620 PM CDT. Emmet around 625 PM CDT. Prescott around 630 PM CDT. Blevins around 645 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Sutton and Laneburg.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
