Prescott Police arrested a female high school teacher this morning for allegedly carrying on a sexual relationship with a student.
Leona Nivens, 33, of Prescott, was arrested at her home without incident according to the Prescott Police Department. The arrest came as the result of a joint investigation between the Prescott Police and the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division. Prescott Police said the investigation was started as a result of allegations that Nivens had improper sexual contact with a 15-year-old student.
Nivens was placed on administrative leave by the Prescott School District pending the outcome of the investigation.
Prescott Police said that charges at this time are sexual assault in the 2nd degree.
