Mrs. JoAnn Sandlin age 75, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Little Rock. She was born January 12, 1944 in Hope, Arkansas to Joseph and Annie Terry Bruce. She was a 20-year veteran of the US Army, originally from Hope, AR. Her love for Hope brought her back in 1995 with her daughter. Since then she has been a fixture in the community, whether with Hope for Paws, at Barry’s Market in the meat department, cleaning homes, or helping with the Wednesday meals at the church on main street. She was always ready with a smile and time to talk, usually about her puppies or her grandchildren. JoAnn was most well-known around Hope as Pound Granny due to her love of the animals at Hope Animal Shelter and Hope for Paws. She is preceded in death by her parents.
JoAnn was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was loved by many because of everything she has done for the town and the animals she worked with. JoAnn was a tough love kind of person, but she loved her family passionately. She was proud of the accomplishments of her daughter, Monika, her granddaughter, Alice-Mae, and her grandsons, Ricky and CJ.
JoAnn loved this town and everyone in it. Her family knows how much of a hole her passing will leave in so many lives, including their own. Her family requests that you think of how she lived rather than how she passed, because that is what she would have wanted
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hope For Paws in care of Jo Ann Sandlin’s funeral expenses 2858 HWY 174 South Hope, Arkansas 71801.
