Mr. Denell R. Thurman, Sr. “Rab, Whop, Connecticut,” entered into eternal rest on April 24, 2019 at LifeCare Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Denell was born to Debra A. Thurman on April 30, 1980 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Denell attended Bridgeport Public Schools in his early years. It was there he met Pastor Shane Gaskins and began attending Jesus Saves Ministries. Denell moved to Nashville, Arkansas at the age of seventeen and attended Nashville High School.
Denell attended Lifeline Ministries, where the overseer is Marvin Edwards. In 2018, Denell joined Powerhouse COGIC, under the leadership of Ronnie White.
Denell worked at Tyson Foods, then went on to work for Husqvarna until his health declined. In 2006, he became an entrepreneur opening a clothing store, “Rab’s Fashion.”
Denell was a fun-loving guy who was loved by many.

Thurman, Jr. of Mineral Springs, AR; two daughters, Asia’Nae Thurman, Dequasha Thurman; two stepdaughters, Quishanti Williams and Zuriana Thurman all of Dallas, TX; one sister, LaKeya (Prinston) Davis of Nashville, AR; brother, Wayne Lee, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; three nieces, Chrisaiya Spencer, Princess Davis, Oceana Snell all of Nashville, AR; five nephews, Rashon Lee, Trevon Lee, Christopher Spencer, Jr., Steven Snell, Jr. all of Nashville, AR, Jadden Lee of Little Rock, AR; three aunts, Sharon Thurman, Doris Thurman, Dawnia Searight all of Bridgeport, CT; godmother, Denise Barnes of Raleigh, NC; mother-in-law, Darlene Reynolds of Nashville, AR; one sister-in-law, Tracy Snell of Nashville, AR.
Family hour will be 1-2 PM Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 4th at Sixth Street Auditorium, Nashville, AR. Mr. Thurman will lie in state one hour prior to service Saturday. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery in Clow. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
